How Does It Work?

Mix Nights is an eight week course consisting of eight lots of two hour evening classes, where our DJ mentors teach the basics of mixing on both vinyl and CDJs. The classes are small, we can only take on a maximum of 8 protégées per course, making it a comfortable space in which to work and learn. The current run of classes are designed for absolute beginners, or those who have some basic skills but want support in building confidence. Current mentors include the very best of Bristol female DJs; Daisy Moon, Em Williams and Danielle Doobay. The weekly workshops are also an opportunity to learn more about the business of being a DJ. Our mentors give advice on wider music issues, for example how to put on your own club night, how to get DJ bookings, how to record a sample mix and so on.

Mix Nights Showcase

At the end of each course of workshops we host a Mix Nights Showcase at The Love Inn, where all new course graduates get a chance to take to the decks and put into practise what they’ve learned in front of an audience. The Showcase nights are free entry before 10pm and open to the public. For details on the next showcase event, head to the Bristol Women in Music Facebook page

🛎  Term 11 - Apply Now

We are now taking a different approach to enrolling new students on Mix Nights courses - instead of putting a course on sale and those with the fastest typing skills and internet connection getting on, we are going to use an application form process. You have a few days to fill in the application form, which we hope will make things fairer for everyone. There are no 'right' answers that we are looking for,  we will place you in a group we feel is suitable for you as soon as we are able to. If you don't make it on Term 11, try again on Term 12, which will be announced soon!

  • The deadline for applications is midnight on Monday 10th of September.
  • To take part in Mix Nights you must identify as female or non-binary and be aged 18 or over.
  • Please do not apply for Term 11 if you cannot make ALL the course dates and the showcase date.

Term 11 will take place in a central Bristol location, 5.45 - 7.45pm on the following dates: 18 Sep, 25 Sep, 02 Oct, 09 Oct, 16 Oct, 23 Oct, 30 Oct, 06 Nov. Showcase: 07 Nov at The Love Inn
